Nikat Founded
Established by women formerly involved in sex work, becoming Ethiopia's first sex worker-led organization.
Received the prestigious 2010 Red Ribbon Award for outstanding community leadership
Afar Region Expansion
Reached over 2,200 female sex workers through peer education in collaboration with Mรฉdecins du Monde.
Exceeded initial targets and established first legal FSW association in Afar
Comprehensive Health Services
Distributed 200,000+ condoms, ensured health check-ups, and refurbished the Akaki Drop-in Center.
Established partnerships with government and health facilities for free healthcare
Network of Empowerment
Formed 12 informal groups and 11 associations of sex workers across Ethiopia.
Over 350 stakeholders engaged, including police, health officials, and community leaders
